- Weight Loss:
- Appetite Suppression: Retatrutide has been shown to significantly reduce appetite, leading to reduced calorie intake.
- Increased Energy Expenditure: By activating the glucagon receptor, it may also enhance the body's energy expenditure, further contributing to weight loss.
- Improved Glycemic Control:
- Enhanced Insulin Secretion: The activation of the GLP-1 and GIP receptors improves insulin secretion in response to meals, helping to lower blood sugar levels.
- Reduced Glucagon Secretion: This peptide can also help reduce the secretion of glucagon, a hormone that increases blood sugar levels, thereby improving overall glycemic control.
- Cardiovascular Benefits:
- Improved Lipid Profile: Retatrutide may improve cholesterol levels and reduce triglycerides, which can lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
- Blood Pressure Reduction: Some studies suggest it might also help reduce blood pressure, contributing to better cardiovascular health.
- Potential for Fat Mass Reduction:
- Reduction in Visceral Fat: Early research indicates that Retatrutide could help reduce visceral fat, the fat stored around internal organs, which is linked to various metabolic diseases.
- Liver Health:
- Reduced Risk of Fatty Liver: By improving insulin sensitivity and reducing fat accumulation, Retatrutide might also lower the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Research indicates that retatrutide is likely the most effect incretin-based peptide for weight loss yet developed. In a study in rodents, for instance, just 10 days of retatrutide treatment leads to decreases in total body weight greater than those seen with semaglutide. This occurs when the peptides are administered at the same doses. If retatrutide is given at a lower dose that semaglutide, then it produces similar weight loss effects but with decreased risk of side effects. Thus, retatrutide may offer an alternative treatment option for those who are somewhat intolerant of the side effects of semaglutide.
A phase 2 study in humans has showed that retatrutide can produced significant reductions in body weight. In fact, trial participants given the highest dose of the peptide lose approximately 20 pounds in just 12 weeks. In another trial, individuals treated for 26 weeks showed changes in waist circumference ranging from -2.1 cm to -10.2 cm. In other words, people taking retatrutide in this trial lost anywhere from 1 inch to -5 inches off of their waist in just 6 months. Finally, in a trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine, weight loss from retatrutide varied in a dose-dependent manner over the 48 weeks of the trial. Individuals given the lowest dose of the peptide lost 8.7% of their total body weight while those given the highest dose lost more than 24% of their total body weight. Similar results were published in a JAMA article as well
Retatrutide Dosage:
The dosage of Retatrutide depends on individual needs and the patient’s condition, making prior consultation with a healthcare provider essential to determine the correct dosage and administration method.
Administration Method :
Retatrutide is administered via subcutaneous injection once per week. The initial dosage is typically 2mg, which may be increased to 6mg or 8mg, depending on the patient’s requirements. If a dose is missed, it should be administered as soon as possible, but a double dose should not be given.
